V. MEMBERSHIP – EXPECTATIONS
CLUB ATTIRE: For over 125 years, the Club has maintained a distinctive atmosphere with unusual decorum. The innate good judgment of members will assure continuation of this tradition for future generations.
• For a Wednesday Morning Program, members and female guests may wear dresses, skirts or dress pants. Denim attire, sneakers, flip flops, and shorts are not permitted.
• When attending a Wednesday Morning Program, gentlemen are not permitted to wear denim attire, shorts, sneakers, or flip flops.
• Gentlemen should wear coats and ties at most daytime and evening functions. Black tie is requested for certain events. Some summer events are casual; check the Club newsletter and weekly email for details. Casual wear for men includes long pants and shirts with collars.
• Special evening events add variety to social occasions. Appropriate dress to depict themes selected by the event chair may be worn by members and guests for these evenings.
• The appropriate attire for club events, dinners, and celebrations will be determined by the chairs of these events. Participants are expected to adhere to the specified dress code to maintain the event’s decorum and standards.
• Responsibility for informing guests about the dress code falls upon the hostesses for the event. Choice of dress should be clarified before the activity to assure comfort for all. However, no guests should be embarrassed if they do not adhere to the dress code.
• When appropriate, attire for events should be noted in the newsletter and weekly email.
• Members are requested to wear their name badge on Wednesday Program Days. A new member’s name badge will have a removable dot, which indicates she recently joined. Traditionally, after one year, the dot is removed. Name badges are not usually worn at more formal events.
